Dragon's blood - this is a resin from the bark of the Croton Lechleri tree, which grows at high altitudes in the Andes (South America). Dragon's blood, or Sangre de drago, owes its name to the colour of its smooth bark, red-grey with white spots, which, when cut, oozes a dark red resin. This resin has been used since time immemorial as a natural medicine among the indigenous people of the Amazon.

Of the many different substances that dragon's blood contains, the most important is taspine, an alkaloid with healing, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that have a positive effect on the regeneration of damaged skin, whether due to injury or acne. It also helps with burns, tibial ulcers and other inflammatory diseases. Once applied to the skin, the resin dries quickly and forms a unique barrier that fits the skin like a glove.

In folk medicine, the resin is used directly on an open wound to stop bleeding and prevent infection. This protective barrier helps to repair the skin and prevent further damage precisely because of its antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant properties - dragon's blood is directly packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals that damage the skin and cause premature aging.

The cosmetic industry believes that pentapeptides can interact with the cell and program it to do specific tasks, including repair.

Matryxil contains two Palmitoylate peptides, Pal - GHK and Pal - GQPR, which carry information needed for skin regeneration and are said to have a synergistic action with fish collagen protein. Ritual

• Thoroughly cleanse the skin with black tea emulsion, Black Tea Cleanser - if you have makeup, remove first with Terre Verdi's GoodOils Cleansing Oil.
• Using a cotton pad, apply the Dragon's Blood Toner to the skin and gently massage into the skin, avoiding the eye area.
• Then use a serum according to your skin type or skin characteristics - there are several types of serums and oil elixirs to choose from, both from Lovinah and Terre Verdi.
• Finish with an application of Lovinah's Divine moisturiser or Terre Verdi's NeroliPom (day) or a ArganShea balm (evening) - again, there are plenty of complementing products to choose from, with luxurious balms available from both Lovinah and Terre Verdi, as well as Organic Essence. Neither of these balms clog pores and regenerate the skin beautifully overnight.
