The Forest Rhapsody brand was founded by CJ Zhan-Shahani, who previously worked for the corporate company Procter and Gamble. However, after negative experiences with greenwashing and other unfair marketing practices, she decided to take a stand against this and start her own brand. She drew on her childhood - she was born and raised in Singapore, a tropical island in Southeast Asia, and her parents were avid nature lovers. She has been aware of the symbiotic relationship between plants and science virtually since she was a child - spending her childhood outdoors among plants, trees and medicinal herbs. And it was in this environment that the first seed of the idea to start Forest Rhapsody was planted in her mind, but it didn't begin to grow and come to life until a few years later. 

The final push for CJ Zhan-Shahani to start her own cosmetics brand was her two pregnancies, when her cystic hormonal acne became radically worse and no conventional cosmetics could improve the condition. Quite the opposite. So she turned to nature and began researching what natural alternatives to commonly used synthetic actives offered. After meticulous research, endless experiments and trials, assisted by a team of female chemists, CJ Zhan-Shahani pioneered a skincare line rooted in unique plant bioactives.

Forest Rhapsody celebrates "green chemistry" by sourcing beneficial ingredients for its products from nature, while also embracing proven scientific methods and the latest technologies. It does not shy away from ingredients that are commonly misunderstood in the "green beauty" category, such as emulsifiers and preservatives. But instead of the classic conventional ones, it looks for the most advanced natural alternatives to these ingredients that meet the stringent requirements of Ecocert/Cosmos and NSF-certified preservatives. The result is a natural yet very user-friendly cosmetic with incredible textures and formulations supercharged with active ingredients.

Sustainability

Forest Rhapsody actively strives to leave our planet in the best possible condition. As well as using sustainably sourced ingredients and being a sustainable natural cosmetic in itself, they also package their products in recyclable glass containers or bottles and encourage their customers to continue to use or recycle these containers.

Cruelty-free

Forest Rhapsody products are cruelty-free, and the brand strongly distances itself from animal testing. Their products are suitable for vegetarians and most of them, except for those containing raw honey, for vegans.
